Become a Volunteer!


Volunteers in Medicine clinics rely on donated time from both retired and active physicians and nurses, as well as volunteers from the community to provide administrative support.Nearly 200 medical professionals have expressed willingness to volunteer at the clinic—but additional help is needed.


Volunteer roles include:
Physicians, dentists and pharmacists
Nurse practitioners and nurses
Social workers and psychologists
Patient educators
Dietitians, Wellness and Fitness instructors
Administrative and operational support.


Health professionals should be aware that when volunteering in the clinic, they are protected from malpractice lawsuits by the Federal Tort Claims Act.

Army Funded ARNG Summer Surge Drill Sergeant Opportunities



The ARNG is currently seeking qualified NCO's to attend the Active Component Drill Sergeant Course at Ft. Jackson with all associated funding provided by the Army at no expense to the Soldier's state or unit. Drill Sergeants will then incur a two-Summer commitment (90 - 130 days on active status) to serve as a Basic Combat Training (BCT) Drill Sergeant at one of the Army's five Army Training Centers (ATC) posts; FT Benning, GA - Ft. Jackson, SC - Ft.
Leonard Wood, MO - Ft. Sill, OK - Ft. Jackson, SC - Ft. Knox, KY).

The Drill Sergeant Candidate must be a SGT - SFC and meet the Drill Sergeant Criteria found at http://www.blogger.com/www.guarddrillsergeant.com.
Soldiers that are currently Drill Sergeant qualified (ASI X) can also volunteer for this duty but may require the two-week Drill Sergeant Recertification Course at Ft. Jackson.

Soldiers may not volunteer if they have been notified of a future deployment.
Federal and State deployments will take precedence over this program and/or the follow-on Summer Surge period commitment.


The Process
1. Respond to this e-mail if you are interested in this program and believe you are eligible to participate including the time frame you will be able to attend Drill Sergeant School. Note: The Drill Sergeant packet must be approved by your Chain of Command before a Drill Sergeant training seat will be allocated.

2. Complete the required documentation using the Commander's Checklist that can be found at http://www.guarddrillsergeant.com/.

3. Each applicant must go through a background investigation and will be required to mail an SF 86 and a fingerprint card (FD 258) to the address below, regardless of their current security status, including a letter head stating it is for Drill Sergeant School. Your State Security Officer will adjudicate the completed packet.

4. FY 07 Training funds will be provided to the State through NGB-ART channels.

The Indiana National Guard is seeking Family Assistance Specialists, civilian contract positions, to provide assistance, referrals, and support to military service members and their families, in order to maintain stability on the home front and ensure mission success. The positions will be located throughout the state of Indiana, including the possible following locations: New Albany, Muncie, Lafayette, Linton, Connersville, Ft. Wayne, Plymouth, Kokomo, Madison, Crawfordsville, and Indianapolis.



Anticipated employee start date will be October 1, 2007.

Major Duties include:

1) Assisting service members and families with pay issues and financial assistance.
2) Maintaining the critical communication link between families and unit rear detachment.
3) Ensure the responsiveness of established community resources and referrals.
4) Assisting service members and families with accessing benefits such as I.D. cards and health insurance.
5) Educating families on deployment and reunion services and entitlements.
6) This position does require travel, including by land and air. Some evening and weekend duties are required.

State Youth Coordinator

Position Location: This position will be located at the Indiana Joint Forces Headquarters located in Indianapolis in the Family Program Office.

Supervision: The incumbent must work closely with the State Family Program Director (SFPD) and be able to perform all duties with minimum supervision.

Qualifications:

Must demonstrate:

-Familiarity with the issues of deployment.
-Ability to work effectively with children of all ages.
-Ability to plan and supervise a wide variety of child and youth related activities.
-Ability to plan, organize and execute local and state events.
-Areas of expertise relating to the creation, implementation, and oversight of a State Program.
-Excellent communication (both verbal and written) skills.
-Ability to support and advocate for the state program (Travel around the state to support deployment/reunion activities and to promote the activities of the Youth Program).
-Ability to work effectively with partnering organizations (OMK, 4-H, BGCA.
-Ability to work effectively within a team.
-Willingness to participate in professional development opportunities.

Special Requirements
-Ability to pass any necessary background investigations.
-Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Education
Master’s degree in the areas of education and/or social services preferred or Bachelor’s Degree and three years experience.

General Duties:
State subject matter expert on Child and Youth Services (CYS)
Advisor to state commanders (TAG, BDE, BN) and state Family Program staff on matters related to child and youth services.
Work collaboratively with Family Program personnel, e.g., ARNG, Regional NGB/CYS Program Manager, State Family Program Director, FACs
Assist in development of state CYS program
Identify, train, and coordinate with CYS points of contact in each state
Facilitate and implement ARNG youth activities/services using local/state/national resources and partners, e.g., 4H, BGCA, NMFA, MCEC, schools, etc.
Maintain involvement with Army outreach initiatives, e.g., Operation: Military Kids (OMK), Operation: Child Care (OCC)
Maintain ARNG/ANG statistical data, reports and provide trend analysis as directed by NGB/CYS Regional Coordinator
Assist in development and delivery of training
Facilitate and implement child care and supporting services using local/state/national resources.
Serve as a member of ARNG working groups and other committees/taskforces as appropriate
Prepare monthly reports documenting work accomplished, problems encountered, significant results, and work planned
Create and maintain databases of contact information
Provide information/resources as necessary

Salary is commensurate with experience, range of $40 - 43K, and a benefits package is available.

The selected individual is responsible for establishing and administering central purchasing for the county in accordance with current county ordinances and Indiana Law. CORRECTIONS OFFICER
JOHNSON COUNTY COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS

Corrections Officers with Community Corrections monitor and supervise participants on a day- to- day basis in the Home Detention and Work Release programs.

Candidates will assist in the security of the Detention Area, conduct random screens, including utilizing breathalyzers, searches of participants, seizing weapons and/or contraband, and taking appropriate action, such as arrest, reading of rights and transporting. You will update records of warrants served on Work Release and Home Detention participants, investigate complaints relative to the Community Corrections programs and investigate allegations against participants’ utilizing appropriate undercover techniques as required. You will maintain communications equipment, monitor closed circuit television system, receive security or fire alarms and respond appropriately, and answer business and/or emergency telephone from the public, and maintain a log of daily calls. This requires the ability to type forms, statements, letters, status reports from rough drafts, as well as entering data on computer. You will perform various intake procedures and monitors participant’s release/return times according to proper legal and Community Corrections policies/guidelines and may comfort emotionally upset persons; referring them to various social service agencies.

The selected individual should possess a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience; with completion of Johnson County Sheriff Department Reserve Academy and Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Jail School training programs. Must demonstrate ability to maintain strict confidentiality of department information and records. Valid Indiana driver’s license and safe driving record required.
