Free Online Webinars for Veterans

Starting February 28th to Provide Veterans with Effective Job Hunting Skills

WASHINGTON DVNF, stepping up its efforts to help Veterans land jobs upon returning home from service, will sponsor a free online webinar series to provide all Veterans, active duty, reservists or retired members of the U.S. Military, and those supporting Veterans -- including Veteran Service Officers, spouses, and family members with critical job hunting and interviewing skills.

The first webinar, a "Resume and Cover Letter Boot Camp," is from 2-3 p.m. EST February 28th.
The webinar will be conducted by Rod Dillehay, EVP of VeraData, and Gulf War Veteran Mark Walker, Deputy Director National Economic Division at The American Legion, the largest Veterans service organization in the country. Walker will provide an overview of essential resources available to veterans in finding employment, and will explain benefits of legislation impacting Veterans and employers alike. Dillehay, having 20+ years experience screening, interviewing and hiring job candidates, will provide resume and cover letter advice and insight.
The February 28th webinar will teach Veterans how to create organized resumes that will get noticed by human and computer eyes. Veterans will learn how to translate their military service into relevant experience that is desirable to employers, how to use LinkedIn to find jobs, and how to word cover letters so they get an employer's attention.

"The webinar is an efficient way for us to reach thousands of Veterans with current and effective job preparation skills," said Raegan Rivers of DVNF. "There is nothing more important to our heroes returning from service than finding a meaningful position in the workplace and in society. This will be tremendously beneficial to the men and women who want a fresh start--and the jobs they deserve--after serving our country."

Future webinars will cover productive job hunting, effective interviewing skills, and information about how the new Veterans Jobs Bill benefits soldiers and employers.
