JOB DESCRIPTION:

Master Electrical Specialist

Position Purpose: Master Electrical Specialists are primarily responsible for actively seeking and providing customer service to all customers, with an emphasis on residential, repair and remodel, and other professional customers within the electrical department. Associates in this position work closely with the Pro Account Sales Associates in providing outstanding service to customers through the sharing of product knowledge and developing and maintaining professional customer relationships, paying special attention to customers' needs and solutions. Master Electrical Specialists have an emphasis on department and product knowledge, providing information on product features and knowing related items to sell an entire project. Associates in this position know how to greet, qualify, recommend, and close every customer in their department, and are able to handle the basics in adjacent departments. Each Master Electrical Specialist has the responsibility of providing a safe environment by following all safety policies & standards, completing specified safety training, immediately correcting hazards & unsafe conditions or reporting conditions to the Manager on Duty, and working safely as not to endanger themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers.

Key Accountabilities:

ENSURES CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

Provides Pro and DIY customers with excellent service

-Actively seek residential, repair and remodel, and other professional customers within the electrical department
-Work with Pro Account Sales Associates in developing relationships with Pro customers, providing a familiar face to customers
-Offer a friendly greeting, smile, and make eye contact with customers
-Ask open ended questions about customers’ projects in order to determine their needs and level of expertise
-Show enthusiasm with the customer
-Thank the customers for shopping at The Home Depot
-Follow up with customers via telephone when appropriate
-Able to use equipment (e.g. cut wire, wood, keys, ropes, blinds, thread pipe, and mix paint) in own and neighboring departments to assist customers as needed

Is knowledgeable about products and services offered by The Home Depot


-Provide advanced product knowledge and excellent service to all customers
- Answer questions about merchandise for the customers’ level of expertise
-Escort customers to appropriate department, no matter what department
-Describe features and benefits of merchandise
-Explain the steps needed to complete projects and the products needed
-Assist customers with special orders and installed sales
-Acquire beginner product knowledge in adjacent departments
-Promote services offered at the Special Services Desk, Tool Rental, and Pro Desk
-Has knowledge of other HD companies and how to best recommend them

Teams up with others to ensure customer satisfaction

-Give feedback to IMAs and DSs about product sales, assortment, JLQs, etc.
-Communicate to the Freight Team and IMAs about out of stocks
-Resolve customer complaints or involves the appropriate manager to ensure customer satisfaction
-Cooperate with other Associates when asked to help

DRIVING SALES

Assesses customer needs and offers additional products or services, as appropriate

-Take customers through the 4 step sales process
-Discuss available options (good, better, best)
-Suggest related items/services outside of department that customer may need
-Follow up on job quotes to complete the sale
-Drive achievement of daily, weekly and monthly department sales goals
-Know how products compare to competitors
- Make decisions on markdowns when necessary to satisfy customer in accordance with markdown procedures

Ensures department is in-stock, clean and shoppable

-Keep up on status of out of stocks and when product will be shipped

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

Follows all Safety Policies & Standards

-Adhere to major and minor work rule policies regarding safety referenced in the “Code of Conduct”
-Utilize Department Specific Safety Apron Cards to help ensure a safe environment
-Report any incident/accident to Manager on Duty


Follows all Loss Prevention Policies & Standards

-Adhere to loss prevention policies and procedures
- Follow procedures to minimize shrink


Inspects Department Frequently for Unsafe Conditions & Behaviors

-Ensure that department aisles and walking surfaces are safe
-Review displays and overheads for safe display/storage of merchandise
-Verify that merchandise safety restraints are in place
- Immediately correct unsafe conditions or notify Manager on Duty

Works Safely

-Complete specified safety training courses
-Use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and safe lifting techniques
-Work safely and report Associates who are acting in an unsafe manner
-Offer assistance to customers who are shopping in an unsafe manner


BUILDS SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE


Builds Personal skills and knowledge

-Maintain expert knowledge on all products and services offered in department
-Build awareness of new products and new products sources to deliver sales and service
-Proactively seek knowledge on all products and services offered (including credit programs)


Builds Customer skills and knowledge

-Provide customer with product and services information
--Explain steps needed to complete projects and the products needed to do so
--Describe features and benefits of various merchandise
--Respond to customer problems and needs related to products and services

Minimum Qualifications
-18 years or older

-8 to 10 years of experience
-Knowledge of state and local electrical codes

Gender Studies Seeks Visiting Lecturer
The Department of Gender Studies at Indiana University is seeking a full time instructor to teach three courses per semester for beginning August 2007. Reappointment for a second year is contingent upon favorable review after the first.




Applicants should:

  • Have a PhD or be advanced to candidacy and possess a strong graduate
    academic background in research related to women, gender or sexuality
  • Have previous successful teaching experiences at the collegiate level in Gender/Women's Studies or a related field

Possible Courses: The successful applicant will normally teach two sections of an introductory course such as G225: Gender, Sexuality & Popular Culture as well as topics courses in his/her area of expertise.
