DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Participate in the research, design & manufacturing of a “Next-Generation” series of
Tachyon satellite and wireless communications products
Drive the design and specification of new core network and CPE products*
Participate in the formal certification processes for legacy and new product offerings*
(e.g. FCC, FAA, CE, UL, ETSI, TUV)
Work with and manage component suppliers and chassis vendors*
Research, identify and manage forced HW obsolescence, specify alternatives and*
manage re-certification processes
Drive the debugging of production problems (e.g. mechanical, power, RF)*
Participate in the research, design and manufacturing of RF-level cards*
Document and manage both legacy and new product end-to-end manufacturing*
processes
* Manage a fast-paced, dynamic Engineering lab hosting internal/external equipment
that supports development, staging and interoperability testing.
Manage and grow junior technicians and establish their career paths*
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor’s degree in the field of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Experience in chassis and board level design – especially in the field of avionics*
Practical experience in the understanding and specification of mechanical, electrical*
and thermal aspects of a variety of fielded hardware form-factors
* Familiarity w/current RF satellite technologies (e.g. TDM, MF-TDMA, DVB)
* Familiarity with COTS HW chassis platforms (e.g. VME, cPCI, ATR, std 19”)
General understanding of SW installation, configuration and use*
* 5 to 10 years of direct industry/military experience
