Read more...The 2219th Brigade Support Company's Family Readiness Group has invited our unit to come to a Career Fair Preparation Workshop and Career Fair Event in Bedford, IN.
The Career Fair is on Saturday, September 25th from 10AM-4PM. This Career Fair will only be open to veterans, service members, and their families to include significant others, parents, siblings, and children of working age.
There will be a Career Fair Preparation Workshop on Thursday, September 16th from 5PM-8PM to help participants address key career fair strategies such as resume and cover letter guidance, the "elevator speech" instructions, interview tips, and advice on appropriate attire for any interested in volunteering their time and expertise at this event.

Position Title: ARNG Family Readiness Support Assistant
Location: INARNG’s 81st Troop Command (Located 2501 15th Avenue, Gary, IN)
Availability: For Immediate PlacementSalary: $34,000 Annually
The 2020 Company, LLC (2020) is seeking qualified, trained and capable individuals to serve as Family Readiness Support Assistants for BCT/BDE Commands within the Army National Guard throughout the States and Territories. Family Readiness is a Commander’s responsibility. The ARNG FRSA position is designed to provide the Commander with a family readiness program assistant to coordinate all aspects of the Command’s Family Readiness Program. FRSAs assigned to the Commands will be formally supervised by the contract company, but will receive technical guidance and direction from the Commander or their representative, while working closely with the State Family Program Office.
Major responsibilities include (not all inclusive):
• Serve as Family Readiness Program Assistant for the Commander
• Provide assistance in development and implementation of Command’s Family Readiness Program
• Serve as conduit for information and coordination for family matters within the Command
• Provide training and hands-on assistance on the Command’s Family Readiness
• Coordinate all aspects of the Family Readiness Triad—assistance, support, and readiness
• Provide assistance to units and individuals to ensure accomplishment of all Deployment Cycle Support (DCS) tasks during the appropriate phase of the deployment cycle
• Identify individuals and families requiring monitoring, follow-up or referral and coordinate with the appropriate internal points of contact
• Provide assistance and training to Rear Detachment Commanders (RDC)
• Develop a post-deployment reunion and reintegration plan for the Command
• Coordinate with the state Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve point of contact on employer issues relative to Soldiers and Families within the Command
• Provide assistance, support, and analysis as required to the state/territory FRA
• Provide other deployment cycle support as required
Qualified candidates must have:
• Knowledge, experience, and skills in the area of military personnel and Family programs. Demonstrated working knowledge of military wellbeing programs, family programs, and deployment cycle support.
• Knowledge of the structure and operations of the Army National Guard
• Exceptional customer service—good oral and written communication skills
• Initiative and a “self-starter” attitude
• Proficiently read, write, and understand the English language
• A valid state driver’s license
• Ability to pass any necessary background investigations, with a minimum NAC clearance
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Database use experience

Today, OSD has announced the new My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) Program Guidance and a re-opening date of October 25, 2010. Significant changes have been made to eligibility, benefit and fiscal year cap, time-limit, and programs of study. These new guidelines reflect a return to the original purpose of the program – to assist spouses of service members achieve portable careers. These changes also align the program with responsible fiscal planning by the Defense Department to help sustain the program.
New Financial Assistance Guidelines
* The program is available to spouses of active duty service members in pay grades E1-E5, W1-W2, and O1-O2.
* The maximum financial benefit will be $4,000 with a fiscal year cap of $2,000. Waivers will be available for spouses pursuing licensure or certification up to the total maximum assistance of $4,000.
* Military spouses will be required to finish their program of study within three years from the start date of the first course.
* The program is limited to associate degrees, certification and licensures.
* Effective immediately, National Guard & Reserve members must be on active duty for their spouses to receive the MyCAA benefit.
Spouses who currently have an active account will be allowed to request financial assistance until Thursday, October 21, 2010. Beginning September 1, 2010, spouses may request financial assistance for classes that have a start date up to January 15, 2011. To ensure adequate time to plan for courses, no career plans will be accepted after August 31, 2010. All currently approved financial assistance documents will be honored.
The program will be closed from Friday, October 22nd to Monday, October 25th so that we may ensure the infrastructure is in place to implement the new program.
