Occupation - Welder
First Class Wage: $21.52
This classification consists of doing welding of all types and kinds with all types and kinds of welding equipment including, but not limited to, semi-automatic (FCAW and GMAW), fully-automatic, stick welding (SMAW), and submerged arc welding, to finish quality in all positions. Will do carbon arc gouging and use any other type of energy based gouging equipment currently in use or that may become available. Required to perform pressure tests on barges, tanks and vessels. Requires the ability to work from welding symbols, sketches, detailed instructions and symbols on blueprints. Requires a thorough knowledge of the use and care of all welding materials and equipment and be familiar with the properties of various metals. The welder will be required to pass any welder certification tests required by the Company, Customer, or Certifying Agent necessary for performing the welding processes noted above.

Second Class Wage: $18.48
This classification consists of doing welding of all types and kinds with all types and kinds of welding equipment including, but not limited to semi-automatic, such as (FCAW and GMAW), fully-automatic, stick welding (SMAW), to finish quality in the horizontal fillet or flat position. Requires the ability to work from simple sketches and verbal instructions. Requires a working knowledge of the use and care of all welding materials and equipment. The welder will be required to pass any welder certification tests required by the Company, Customer, or Certifying Agent necessary for performing the welding processes noted above.

Occupation - Steelfitter
First Class Wage: $19.86

This classification consists of the development of jigs and layout on all assemblies. Must have the ability to read drawings and sketches of the job. Occasionally takes off material. Required to do shrinking as instructed. Required to perform pressure tests on barges, tanks or vessels. Does complicated cutout and patch work including large plate areas, areas where plate and supporting framing or brackets must be replaced. Cut out and replace damaged sections of headlogs, rake or stern corners. Hang rakes, sterns and side boxes and install rake knuckles.

Second Class Wage: $17.93
This classification consists of fitting steel into jigs; setting and squaring up frames and brackets to layout made by a 1st Class Steelfitter. Fits steel plate laps, frames to plates, etc. May be required to do tacking, burning, chipping and grinding. Installs coaming brackets and aligns coaming. Installs tracks after layout by a 1st Class Steelfitter. Installs covers, deck fittings, manholes and ladders. Does water testing and cuts water stops. Does cutout and patch work on minor repairs to boats, barges, hatch covers, coamings, tracks and inner-bottoms.

Jeffcoat will be conducting interviews 3 May and one day each week for the next few weeks. Candidates will be here for approximately 2-3 hours and must arrive on time (suggest 10-15 minutes early). All candidates must apply online (see below for instructions).

Work Outdoors; must be available for 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift (7a-3:30p, 3p-11:30p, 11p-7a) / Overtime on Saturdays (if rained out during week) and Work in Union Environment.
