Job Description
GAP Solutions is looking dedicated candidates to provide Soldier and Family Support
Services including direct day-to-day support to Soldiers and Family members and liaison
with other support entities including Rear Detachments, Family Readiness Groups,
Family Assistant Centers, and Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR)
representatives. The Soldier and Family Support Services support staff will provide
guidance, assistance, and day-to-day support to the Soldiers and Families assigned within
their geographical areas of responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Serve as Soldier and Family Support Services program assistant and provide
benefit information and Yellow Ribbon Program coordination and assistance to
Soldiers and their Families.
• Provide assistance in the development and implementation of the Command’s
Soldier and Family wellbeing, and deployment cycle support. Maintains an upto-
date Family support, benefits, and readiness library (directives, policies,
regulations and program materials).
• At the organization level, coordinate all aspects of the Yellow Ribbon Program.
Become the ‘subject matter expert’ in regard to Reunion / Reintegration activities
and wellbeing programs within their assigned area of responsibility.
• Provide necessary assistance to units and/or individuals to ensure accomplishment
of all DCS tasks during the appropriate phases of the deployment cycle.
• Assist the command leadership in providing all required briefings in each phase of
the deployment cycle.
• Identify individuals requiring monitoring, follow-up or referral and coordinate
with the appropriate internal points of contact to ensure necessary care/actions are
provided/taken. Coordinate with state Family assistance centers for referral.
• Provide assistance to Rear Detachment Commanders in identifying and following
through on Family programs issues, single returnee, R&R leave, emergency leave,
and medical holds/issues. Identify potential Family issues awaiting returning
Soldier, identify Family members who have experienced significant problems
(financial, emotional and relational) during the deployment, and ensure RDCs are
informed.
• Provide assistance to the command leadership in ensuring that tasks not
accomplished in the redeployment stage in theater are completed and documented
in the post-deployment stage.
• Develop a post-deployment reunion plan and assist the command leadership in
providing reception activities, briefings, training, and spouse/Family education.
• Coordinate with the state Employer Support of Guard and Reserve point of
contact on any employer issues relative to Soldiers and/or their Family members
within the command. Provide information to command leadership and follow-up
as required.
• Serve as the conduit for command information and coordination pertaining to
Yellow Ribbon throughout the command. With command guidance, develops the
Commander’s Reunion and Reintegration communication plan which includes a
rigorous Family outreach program.
Qualifications
• Must demonstrate a working knowledge of military wellbeing programs, Yellow
Ribbon (Reunion / Reintegration) programs, and the deployment support cycle
requirements.
• Must possess broad based knowledge, experience, and skills in the areas of
military personnel, human resources, and Family programs as well as
understanding of the Army National Guard.
• Must be a self-starter and require minimum oversight.
• Must be computer literate and proficient in preparing Microsoft Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint documents. Contractors must have the ability to gather information,
make recommendations for program improvement, synthesize information, and
provide communication (orally and written) to disseminate information
throughout the command.
• Must have the ability to develop PowerPoint briefings as directed.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
• Level I positions are an entry level position and must possess basic knowledge,
experience, and skills in the areas of military personnel, human resources, and
Family programs as well as an understanding of the ARNG. Level I positions are
for personnel with less than two (2) years experience working with ARNG
Families (This experience can be a combination of volunteer service or paid
work).
• Level II Staff positions are for more experienced staff members and must possess
broad based knowledge, experience, and skills in the areas of military personnel,
human resources, and Family programs as well as an understanding of the
ARNG. This position may include supervisory responsibilities within their
geographical area of assignment, which will include assisting, training and
mentoring Level I staff members. Personnel must have greater than two years
experience working with ARNG Families (This experience can be a combination
of volunteer service or paid work).
