EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE OUTREACH INITIATIVE

    

 

In October 2010, HQ ESGR has added Employment Initiatives to the Employer Outreach mission. During our Statement of Support signings with employers, we are asking about employment op- portunities for veterans, reserve members and their family members. ESGR in coordination with the National Guard Employment Coordination Program, is taking the lead on seeking ways to improve employment opportunities.  The Joint program increases career opportunities for Hoo- sier Guardsman and Reservists by developing proactive positive relationships with Hoosier em- ployers and connection our military with these employers through all available channels to achieve pre-recession employment ratios.  Requests from either employers or  service members looking for work can contact the employment program via phone (800) 237-2850, ext. 72690 or by email at   inesgr@inesgr.org.

 

The National Guard has placed 6 soldiers as Employment Coordinators to assist all      Indiana ser- vice members with job preparedness.  ESGR has assisted by providing two coordinators, called Employer Specialists, Mr. Jonathon Morales and Mrs. Alexandra Harris, through NGB and DOD con- tracts to build partnerships with employers . The roles of both are below.

 

 Employment Specialists - Employment Coordinators

Jonathon Morales is the Employer Support Specialist (ESS) with ESGR. He works with central and southern Indiana employers seeking to hire current and prior military mem- bers and families. Prior to joining ESGR, he worked for the Department of Defense as a Hyperspectral Analyst working on an Air Force weapon system that directly impacted the safety and security of U.S. forces conducting combat operations in Afghanistan Jonathon has served, and continues to serve over 12 years in the different components of the U.S. Air Force.  He is currently assigned as a Technical Sergeant to the 181st Intelligence Wing in Terre Haute, IN.  Jonathon's history in working with veteran specific initiatives began with his experience as the  Assistant Director of  Marketing for  The  American Legion‘s  National Headquarters. Jonathon  has great breadth of experience in traditional and web marketing, business development and public relations with corporate and non-profit organizations. Jonathon lives on the west side of Indianapolis with his wife and children. Jonathon is an avid outdoors- man and throughout the different seasons of the year you can find him with a bow or fishing rod in his hands.  Outside of these hobbies he enjoys working in the garden and raising grass fed beef cattle.

Alexandra Harris is the new Employment Transition Coordinator (ETC) with ESGR. She is responsible for working with northern Indiana employers seeking to hire current and prior military members and families into positions in their company. Prior to join- ing ESGR, she worked for the Military Family Research Institute (MFRI) at Purdue Uni- versity where she focused on enhancing educational and workforce development op- portunities for service members and veterans, as well as their families. Notable are her years as the VA Certifying Official for Ivy Tech Community College where  she  developed  the  VA  work-study  program and  started  first-year  seminarcourses for current and prior military members as well as a veteran bowling teamAlexandra's greatest strengths are her passion for working with the military community and the results of doing so. She is experienced in collecting metrics and applying the results to enhance programs and ser- vices. She thrives on balancing a busy schedule of meeting with employers, particularly those that take action  to hire  from  the military community. Alexandra holds  a master‘s degree from  Indiana Wesleyan University. She lives in Indianapolis with her husband and two fish tanks. In her free time, Alexandra likes to travel and is looking forward to her next Caribbean adventure.
