Position Description

We are looking for full time Supervisors to join the Extrusion, Tube Mill & Ingot departments of our Lafayette Operations group of North American (NA) Extrusions in Lafayette, Indiana.

These positions are responsible for meeting or exceeding production goals including production output, safety, on time delivery, and people initiatives within a traditional unit supervisor role.

These positions are the first level of authority in the workplace providing leadership, coaching, and clear direction to ensure people are working safely, meeting customer demand, solving problems, eliminating waste, and meeting goals.

Under the direction of the Plant Manager or Shift Supervisor, this position is accountable for supervising, scheduling and leading a group of union employees to meet departmental goals including but not limited to:

• Leading safety initiatives.

• Monitoring performance against goals and implementing corrective actions to meet goals.

• Identifying and Implementing improvement plans.

• Solving problems to the root to prevent a recurrence.

• Effectively communicating with others within and outside the work group.

• Managing labor relations and conflict issues within the work group.

• Leading small group problem solving activities utilizing resources available.

• Providing leadership and direction, and motivation to people in assigned area

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED & 3-5 years industry experience OR

• BS degree in Engineering, Metallurgy or Business

• Environmental, Health and Safety Focus/Orientation

• 3-5 years of Industrial manufacturing in the areas of blending aluminum alloys, working with molten aluminum, and a working knowledge of direct gas fired furnaces.

• 3 years of demonstrated leadership, organizational, communication, problem solving and conflict resolution skills

• Knowledge and experience in applying lean manufacturing/Alcoa Business Systems.

• Ability to establish sound priorities and objectives and be able to function in a high pressure work environment characterized by constant change.

• Must be self motivated, able to motivate others, able to set direction and expectations and follow-up to ensure success

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous supervisory/management experience in a unionized environment

• Experience in a metal casting facility

• Strong computer skills with knowledge of MS Office package and proficiency in Oracle desired

Major Duties:

PURPOSE OF POSITION/SUMMARY:
Incumbent works as a professional staff assistant to a General Officer within the Camp Atterbury‐Muscatatuck Center for Complex Operations (CA‐MCCO) providing executive and administrative support of communication activities and in the delivery of Formal Protocol activities involving high level state, national and international figures.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• 6 years full‐time professional experience in administrative support, business administration, program support, public administration, or related experience. Substitutions: Accredited college training may substitute for up to 4 years of the required experience on a year for year basis. Accredited graduate training may substitute for up to 2 years of the required experience on a year for year basis.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES/DIRECT REPORTS:

RESPONSIBILITY:
Incumbent contributes to the function of the Camp Atterbury‐Muscatatuck Center for Complex Operations (CA‐MCCO) by recommendation on improving policy or procedures. Supervisor indicates performance goals in conjunction with the strategic plan, and consequential changes are discussed for approval before implementation. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:

DIFFICULTY OF WORK:

WORKING CONDITIONS:

PURPOSE OF POSITION/SUMMARY:
Incumbent assists the carpenter, electrician, lineman, HVAC mechanic, painter and/or sign painter in the execution of their duties performing apprentice‐level maintenance, repair, and minor construction on the facilities, equipment and systems, roads and grounds of the Hoosier Youth Challenge Academy, Knightstown.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists with installation, repair and maintain all phases of electrical breaker boxes, switches, exhaust fans, lights, exit lights, security lights, water coolers, kitchen equipment, etc; • Assists with installation and repairs of plumbing fixtures such as: water pumps, sinks, toilets, showers, water heaters, faucets, drain lines, etc; Assist in the installation and repair of main water lines; • Assists with building, installing and repairing walls, porches, additions to buildings, doors, screens, windows, drywall, floor tile, roofing, gutters, drain pipes, siding, soffit, bulletin boards, cabinets, counters, etc; • Assists with painting and/or applying other surface finishes to walls, ceilings, window frames, woodwork, curbs, roadways, furniture, equipment, interior and exterior structures; • Assists with troubleshooting and making minor repairs to HVAC systems, refrigeration and AC systems including ductwork; • Assists with installing and repairing locks and latches; • Assists with repairing and/or replacing road signs, gates, fences and posts; • Performs light welding (OX/ACE, ARC, MIG, TIG); • May operate heavy equipment such as: forklifts (4000 and 6000 lbs.), backhoe, dump truck, front end loader, bucket truck, bulldozer, mowing equipment, etc; Uses other specialized equipment such as: jackhammer, wrecking saws, hydraulic equipment, concrete mixers, paint sprayer, etc; • Assists with inspecting buildings for necessary repairs; • Complies with all appropriate protective and safety requirements in the performance of duties including, but not limited to: use of personal protective equipment (PPE); handling, storage & mixing of hazardous materials according to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS); confined spaces; and complying with safety requirements in the use of tools, equipment, etc; • Maintains compliance with all personnel rules, policies and procedures including, but not limited to: affirmative action, harassment and discrimination, drug & alcohol free workplace, dress code and ethics.



JOB REQUIREMENTS:
GENERAL skill, knowledge and ability in two or more of the following specialized areas:
• Heating, ventilation and air‐conditioning systems and the ability to diagnose and repair air handlers, piping system, pump systems, dampers, exhaust systems, heat exchangers, pneumatic and electric control systems and related preventive maintenance on the same; • Electrical and the ability to interpret and apply N.E.C. in repairs and preventive maintenance of motors, distribution systems, motor controls, lighting, and to complete new electrical installations including conduit bending and related applications of industrial electricity; • Plumbing and the ability to repair and install water distribution piping of all types, repair circulation systems, hot water systems and sewer distribution systems, and steam and condensate return piping systems; • Mechanical maintenance and the ability to diagnose and repair all types of motorized equipment, including cars, trucks, heavy/specialized equipment, mowers, gas & diesel engines, small engine repair; • Refrigeration systems and the ability to diagnose commercial and residential cooling systems, commercial freezer, refrigerators, ice makers, water coolers and air conditioning; • Carpentry and the ability to install and repair roofing systems, ceilings, walls, doors and frames, windows, floors, and all related substructures, have knowledge of unified building codes and experience in industrial building materials including metal framing, drywall and plaster finishing, guttering and plaster walls; • Masonry and the ability to perform repairs and new installations on brick, block, concrete, ceramic materials, and glass block. General knowledge in concrete forming, finishing including load characteristics and related parameters; • Welding and the ability to fabricate and weld using OX/ACE, ARC, MIG, TIG with skills in all types of metal; • Painting and the ability to determine types, products and methods required for all painting applications including interior/exterior, equipment, and signage; • Equipment repair and millwright functions and the ability to plan and execute new equipment installations, movement and relocations ensuring proper leveling and alignment. Working knowledge of safety procedures when working with large or heavy types of equipment; • Equipment operation and the ability to safely operate various types of industrial equipment including backhoes, snow plows, fork lifts, bucket trucks, large and small mowers, tractors, and pay loaders;



􀂾 Ability to use a wide variety of the hand and power tools used in the various trades and to operate a variety of heavy equipment;
􀂾 Basic knowledge of safety requirements;
􀂾 Ability to read and/or follow instructions in equipment manuals, Technical Manuals, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), blueprints, drawings, etc;
􀂾 Ability to lift heavy equipment and tools in making repairs;
􀂾 Must have and maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License;
􀂾 Must be age 18 – 30.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES/DIRECT REPORTS:
Incumbent reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor S2.


RESPONSIBILITY:
Work is moderately complex covering a wide range of varying maintenance and repair operations. Incumbent works with a considerable independence receiving general guidelines and/or work orders and having the authority to alter procedures i.e. replace vs. repair as needed to meet the requirements for the task.



PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Incumbent performs most duties requiring a high degree of manual dexterity, frequent standing, crouching, kneeling, stooping, crawling, climbing, and extended periods of walking. Incumbent frequently lifts 50 pounds. Occasional heavy lifting over 50 pounds is required when moving furniture and equipment.
• Trunk Strength ‐ The ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
• Extent Flexibility ‐ The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed inside and outside on 400 acres of grounds with numerous buildings and structures to be maintained. Exposure to hazardous conditions i.e. fumes, asbestos, hot pipes, vapors, insects, rodents, chemicals, grease, electric shock, powered machinery, heights, crawl spaces, tunnels, deep ditches and inclement weather is common. Safety goggles, safety shoes, hardhats, ear protection, gloves, welding helmet/gloves, face mask and cold weather clothes are required to perform some duties due to possible injury from hazardous conditions.



SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
May be required to work a nonstandard workweek (which may require rotation between day, evening and graveyard shift, and may include weekends and holidays).
