Overview:
The Shipping/Receiving Clerk performs clerical and physical tasks in accordance with incoming and outgoing shipments. When performing routine tasks, this employee follows established guidelines. The Shipping/Receiving Clerk receives specific guidance from supervisors and other officials when unusual problems arise. This employee may direct and coordinate the activities of other colleagues engaged in the handling of shipping and receiving goods. There are many steps involved in shipping goods to various destinations but one of the primary duties is verifying that orders are accurately filled. This task is completed by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents ensuring that shipments are properly packaged. Other duties consist of identifying shipping information, loading and unloading goods, and preparing and consolidating records of goods shipped such as manifests and bills of lading. Receiving duties consist of verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, and records. Additional duties consist of checking for damaged goods, ensuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment, and preparing and maintaining records of goods received.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Process purchase requests, manage the document register, and conduct inventory.
• Prepare and follow up on documents for contract and purchased items.
• Verify all serial numbers while completing inventories and items purchased by contract.
• Prepare Department of Defense form 250 for signature, and Department of Army form 3161 to issue equipment and supplies.
• Provide insight to customers on the requisition process.
• Manage inventories consisting of data bases, shipping/receiving, and many types of supplies and equipment.

Minimum Required Skills, Education, Experience & Abilities:
• High School Diploma, Associates Degree preferred.
• Two years of verifiable shipping/receiving experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Must be able to read invoices.
• Familiar with military supply procedures.
• Must have or be able to obtain a Forklift License.

Work Condition:
Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lit.

Physical Demands:
Shipping/Receiving Clerks are often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. They may lift and carry items that weigh up to 40 lbs. The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other employees.
