Position Description

We are looking for full time Supervisors to join the Extrusion, Tube Mill & Ingot departments of our Lafayette Operations group of North American (NA) Extrusions in Lafayette, Indiana.

These positions are responsible for meeting or exceeding production goals including production output, safety, on time delivery, and people initiatives within a traditional unit supervisor role.

These positions are the first level of authority in the workplace providing leadership, coaching, and clear direction to ensure people are working safely, meeting customer demand, solving problems, eliminating waste, and meeting goals.

Under the direction of the Plant Manager or Shift Supervisor, this position is accountable for supervising, scheduling and leading a group of union employees to meet departmental goals including but not limited to:

• Leading safety initiatives.

• Monitoring performance against goals and implementing corrective actions to meet goals.

• Identifying and Implementing improvement plans.

• Solving problems to the root to prevent a recurrence.

• Effectively communicating with others within and outside the work group.

• Managing labor relations and conflict issues within the work group.

• Maintaining visual systems within area of accountability.


• Leading small group problem solving activities utilizing resources available.

• Providing leadership and direction, and motivation to people in assigned area

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED & 3-5 years industry experience OR

• BS degree in Engineering, Metallurgy or Business

• Environmental, Health and Safety Focus/Orientation

• 3-5 years of Industrial manufacturing in the areas of blending aluminum alloys, working with molten aluminum, and a working knowledge of direct gas fired furnaces.

• 3 years of demonstrated leadership, organizational, communication, problem solving and conflict resolution skills

• Knowledge and experience in applying lean manufacturing/Alcoa Business Systems.

• Ability to establish sound priorities and objectives and be able to function in a high pressure work environment characterized by constant change.

• Must be self motivated, able to motivate others, able to set direction and expectations and follow-up to ensure success

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous supervisory/management experience in a unionized environment

• Experience in a metal casting facility

• Strong computer skills with knowledge of MS Office package and proficiency in Oracle desired

Major Duties:

At the GS-07 and GS-08 levels, the incumbent serves as a trainee receiving training and progressively more difficult assignments to eventually assume the full range of duties of the target GS-09 level.


* The Legal Instruments Examiner’s primary purpose is to make factual quasi-legal and subjective determinations involved in the administration of all types beneficiary estates, the protection of their benefit rights, and the routine handling of legal matters, and the identification of legal questions, which require action, by Regional Counsel.

* The incumbent will review records to ensure that all beneficiaries and dependents are accounted for in award actions; e.g. dependent parents and children living with other relatives.

* The incumbent will advise the fiduciary of possible entitlement to various other non-VA benefits such as Social Security, Railroad Retirement, Medicare, Medical Assistance, etc.

* The incumbent will initiate action to have payments adjusted, suspended, resumed, or recovered when appropriate in such situations as successor fiduciary appointment, failure to account, unauthorized expenditures, excessive income, death, hospitalization, or incarceration.

* The incumbent will advise social and medical administrative services at VAMC’s of estate supervision matters, general VA benefits, and VARO procedures.


Qualifications:

To qualify for the GS-7 position, you must satisfy the requirement described below:

Specialized Experience. You must have one year of specialized experience described below equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service.

To qualify for the GS-8 position, you must satisfy the requirement described below:

Specialized Experience. You must have one year of specialized experience described below equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service.


Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience that has equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization during which you performed technical assignments that may have involved the following:

* Specialized experience is experience that may be gained in a position such as a Paralegal Specialist, Legal Technician or Attorney with responsibility for controlling the day-to-day functions of the office.

The Funeral Honors section is looking for 1-2 ADOS personnel from each of the following cities: Gary, South Bend, Elkhart, Ft. Wayne. These will be short term orders during the summer (enough to cover AT). There's a chance to issue longer orders after October, therefore the candidates are not on alert to be deployed. Need them to be on dwell status.

Need them to be E4 and below, be able to pass a PT test, be in good standing with their unit. They need a letter of recommendation from their unit, preferable their commander. Must have reliable transportation.

PURPOSE OF POSITION/SUMMARY:
Incumbent works as a professional staff assistant to a General Officer within the Camp Atterbury‐Muscatatuck Center for Complex Operations (CA‐MCCO) providing executive and administrative support of communication activities and in the delivery of Formal Protocol activities involving high level state, national and international figures.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist to provide planning and coordination of major meetings, conferences, seminars, demonstrations, tours, and official visits; Prepare and coordinate agendas and itineraries; • Assist in formalizing plans and confirm that all details and arrangements are made for accommodating guests; Secures the use of facilities, enlist cooperation of personnel and provide services for the arrival of dignitaries; provide data sheets and/or informational briefings.
• Schedule luncheons and dinners to include menu, place cards, and seating arrangements, provide for honors and courtesies commensurate with the visitor's military rank or comparable station in civilian life; • Provide day‐to‐day support of initiatives of the Camp Atterbury‐Muscatatuck Center for Complex Operations (CA‐MCCO). Organize and manage special projects of the department related to public affairs, community outreach, and executive initiatives; • Manage day‐to‐day office systems to ensure efficiency and organization within the department • Prepare presentations, plan events, compile communication materials, and coordinate opportunistic activities for CA‐MCCO Command staff; • Draft, edit, and proofread letters, speeches, presentations, and literature such as pamphlets, brochures, etc.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• 6 years full‐time professional experience in administrative support, business administration, program support, public administration, or related experience. Substitutions: Accredited college training may substitute for up to 4 years of the required experience on a year for year basis. Accredited graduate training may substitute for up to 2 years of the required experience on a year for year basis.
• Considerable understanding of military terminology, procedures, methods, policies, regulations as they relate to the Camp Atterbury‐Muscatatuck Center for Complex Operations (CA‐MCCO), the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, Camp Atterbury initiatives and the Intermediate Staging Base (ISB) operations at the 181st Fighter Wing in Terre Haute, Indiana and the unique missions and operational requirements; • Considerable understanding of the practice of protocol, etiquette and civility interaction to facilitate professional relationships among US and Foreign personnel: civilian and military officials, dignitaries, and business leaders; • Extensive knowledge of and proficiency in Windows software systems including: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.; • Ability to multi‐task, prioritize projects, and determine courses of action to effectively meet deadlines in a continuously changing environment; • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with US and Foreign personnel: civilian and military officials, dignitaries, and business leaders in a tactful and courteous manner; • Ability to answer, refer or act on a wide variety of inquiries including those of a sensitive nature in an efficient, courteous, discreet and tactful manner; • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues or information; • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; • Must have and maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License as a condition of employment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES/DIRECT REPORTS:
Incumbent reports to the Camp Atterbury‐Muscatatuck Center for Complex Operations Commander.


RESPONSIBILITY:
Incumbent contributes to the function of the Camp Atterbury‐Muscatatuck Center for Complex Operations (CA‐MCCO) by recommendation on improving policy or procedures. Supervisor indicates performance goals in conjunction with the strategic plan, and consequential changes are discussed for approval before implementation. Other work reviewed for soundness of judgment and its success in achieving goals.



PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
Incumbent has frequent to daily contact with US and Foreign personnel: civilian and military officials, dignitaries, and business leaders to coordinate requirements in all areas.



DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
Incumbent works within generally accepted guidelines on military protocol and etiquette on coordination of major meetings, conferences, seminars, demonstrations, tours, and official visits. Judgment is exercised in adapting procedures for diverse events and personnel not effectively addressed within guidelines.



WORKING CONDITIONS:
Incumbent generally works in an office environment. Frequent travel to work and/or other event sites may be required. Incumbent may be required to work irregular shifts, days, nights, weekends and/or holidays, indoor and outdoor environments, and inclement weather conditions.



SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Work performed while on‐site at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center is in a simulated urban warfare training environment. All personnel are required to wear military MILES or other designated specialized equipment upon entry onto and in the performance of duties within the boundaries of the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center. Incumbents are components of the simulated urban warfare, terrorist or homeland security training operations and are expected to participate in the simulated training as required.
