Wire Drawing Operator

Responsibility: To produce wire to the high quality standards required by our customers.


Essential Functions of the Job: Operate wire-drawing machines, string-up machines, cut machines, operate furnaces, record production data are the core elements of drawing wire. Produce wire on assigned machines according to the Shift Supervisors instructions and the production orders, and to act as a first line inspector responsible for the quality of our products.


Qualifications: Must be qualified to run assigned production equipment in their area. Must be able to do basic math computations, and follow written instructions.

Physical Demands: Standing or walking most of the shift. Routine lifting up to 75lbs. Set up and operation of wire-drawing and annealing machinery requires significant amount of standing and reaching. Stringing up machines requires significant strength.

Metal Inspector

Main Responsibility: Test and evaluate incoming raw material, in process material, as well as finished material and determine its suitability for use in FWM products. Monitor and assess the quality of the wire to ensure it meets FWM's standards and customer specifications. Report inspection information to the Plant Manager, Team Leader, and/or Department Shift Lead.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Perform inspections of wire as necessary to ensure they meet FWM criteria as well as the customer's criteria. Perform tests in a timely and efficient manner to minimize the investment of labor and materials in unsuitable wire.

To Provide insight as to what is causing quality problems and devise proposals to eliminate them.

Monitor all aspects of FWM''s plants that impact the quality of our products and recommend improvements.

Perform other duties as requested by management

Job Requirements:

Education: High School diploma or GED

Experience: Experience in an inspection or production environment is preferred

Knowledge: Must pass the Gabet Arnold Test (G.A.T.). Knowledge of geometry is helpful. Must be trained in then use of Instron Tensile Tester, Microscope, Torsion Tester, Resistance Bridge, and various special test devices.

Physical Demands: Must stand for prolonged periods of time and handle coils weighing up to 70 lbs.
