OVERVIEW:
The Truck/Tractor-Trailer Driver ensures that all logistics needs are met for mobilization and demobilization units at Camp Atterbury. This position operates a variety of heavy military and civilian vehicles. This position drives fuel or water tank trucks, semi-tractor trailers, heavy troop transports, box trucks, and passenger buses. The Truck/Tractor-Trailer Driver drives a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), to transport and deliver goods, personnel or materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form. The incumbent will be required to unload trucks. This position may require operating automated routing equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
An “over-the-road” driver regularly drives a truck over such a distance that the worker does not return to the departure point in the same workday. This position drives trucks to transport materials, merchandise, equipment, or workers between various types of establishments.
This driver may also load or unload truck with or without assistance. This position performs preventive maintenance checks and services to prevent mission failures, make minor mechanical repairs, and keep truck in good working order. This incumbent ensures missions are completed and deadlines are met in a timely fashion.
Minimum Required Skills, Education, Experience, & Abilities:
 High School Diploma.
 Two years “over-the-road” Truck Driving/Tractor Driving experience.
 Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, no more than two speeding tickets in the last year.
 Class A CDL with Public Passenger Endorsement.
 Knowledge of transportation loading procedures.
 Must be able to lift or pull 40 lbs.
 Be able to work flexible hours to include weekends.

WORK CONDITION:
Drivers operate vehicles on various terrains and inclement weather conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Drivers at this grade level exert light physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, legs, and feet to operate hand and foot controls. They exert moderate physical effort in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 lbs.), and the occasional handling of heavier objects while loading and unloading cargo, with the assistance of other workers or weight handling equipment.
